Packers get embarrassed; Rodgers and Raleigh climb record boards; Colts are not to be messed with; Hurts propels Eagles’ second half comeback

What a weekend of football! From nine non-offensive touchdowns being scored in the NFL, the most since 2020, to a 330 pound fella running record speeds to return a blocked kick for a touchdown. Hell, we even saw Carson Wentz start a football game again and actually do fairly solid. Over to baseball, Cal Raleigh sets the Mariners all-time home run record and Trout rips his 400th base knock.

15 WEEKEND HEADLINES. 15 BOTTOM LINE THOUGHTS. 15 WORDS OR LESS.

4) Seahawks have a ton of firepower on offense and Macdonald has that defense RIGHT.

Indianapolis Colts are one of the best looking 3-0 teams behind Daniel Jones still playing out of his skull

5) It feels weird to say, but Danny Dimes has legit top five numbers among quarterbacks.

Houston Texans offense is horrible and Stroud now coming under fire for his play; QB has 15 INTs in his last 20 starts following his rookie season

6) The o-line is terrible but Stroud’s struggles are equally concerning. It all stinks out loud.

Carson Wentz vs Jake Browning turned into a bunch of Vikings slaughtering Bengals for 60 minutes for a Vikings 48-10 victory

9) Browning’s first fill in start for Burrow was brutal to watch. Bengals might be cooked.

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers scores highest PFF grade ever; finishes with 99.4 coverage grade, a pick six, one fumble recovery TD, two forced fumbles, one forced incompletion

10) Have a day! This performance lined up across from Chase/Higgins is no joke.

The NFL says they will be better about refereeing the tush push. Except against apparently the Eagles, who are the continued biggest problem for tush push false starts

11) This shit is getting ridiculous and it’s egregious that refs are STILL not flagging it.

Get moving big fella!! 336 pound Jordan Davis becomes heaviest player to score a blocked field goal for a touchdown of 50+ yards and was clocked at 18.59 MPH doing it

12) The 1960-2010 NFL fan mind could never comprehend a tank-sized player moving at these speeds.

NCAA

Nebraska remains historically awful against ranked opponents; falls to #21 Michigan 30-27 in tightly contested Big Ten matchup

13) But don’t worry, QB Dylan Raiola literally thinks he’s Patrick Mahomes. Down to the armband.

MLB

Mike Trout rips his 400th base knock and now stands with only Giancarlo Stanton as active players to eclipse the mark.

14) One of the purest swings ever. Damn shame the injury gods robbed us of more.

Cal Raleigh supasses Griffey Jr for Mariners single season home run record and this AL MVP race just got a whole lot more interesting in the final minute

15) Judge has gaudy numbers and a superior statline. A 1.100+ OPS is insane. But 58+ taters, the greatest hitting season ever for a catcher and switch-hitter, most ever multi-home run games in Mariners and switch hitter history (10), and the Mariners are going to win the AL West after sweeping the Astros? Come on! Only one man in this race is having a historic season. That’s Big Dumper, aka the porcelain king, aka Mr. Wagon.

Sorry, that one’s over the standard 15 word limit per take. However, especially if Cal gets to 60, there should be no debate for MVP (but don’t tell that to a Yankees fan). It’d be one thing if Judge was more than a DH also (Yankees fans will tell you this is a tired narrative). Remember how the Hall of Fame was reluctant to let Edgar Martinez in the hall because he was only a DH? Even if he was the greatest DH of all time, it hurt his stock because skeptics saw it as a part-time position. So there’s precedent for a DH being knocked in favorability and especially in the case where it’s a neck and neck race for MVP, why should that precedent change? Cal plays the toughest position on defense that historically takes away from the player being a better hitter. The Mariners pitching staff is is also having a phenomenal season and a big part of that is thanks to Cal behind the plate. Not to mention he’s a gold and platinum glove winner, who continues to play at that caliber on defense, and has an absolute hose of an arm. Their WARs and OPS are close enough that if we’re splitting hairs, how can you not give it to the player having a historic season in numerous ways and 58+ touchings of all four bags? That’s not to discredit some milestones and records Judge has toppled this season but those are almost all career achievements, not seasonal ones. Have to imagine voter fatigue will kick in as well.
